The Government is set to delay the rolling out of E-Passports as the Registrar-General’s office is currently doing trial runs.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services (Kindness Paradza) in an interview with News Day on Wednesday 19/01/2022.
They (E-Passports) are not yet issued, but there are logistics that are being done. The Minister of Home Affairs, Hon Kazembe Kazembe will issue a full statement next week about it. But Everything is on course. Currently they are doing trial runsKindness Paradza
The ordinary Electronic Passport will cost USD 100 whilst the emergency e-passport will cost USD 300. The E-Passport was launched by President Emmerson Mnangagwa with the aim of enhancing security by preventing identity theft and forgery. Key features of the e-passport will include a chip and a security thread fully embedded in the inner booklet pages.
