Engineer IN Support – Econet


Job Description

Job Purpose

The main purpose of the role is responsible for the designing, modification, development and operations of intelligent network in order to support business innovation requirements whilst keeping within the best standards and maintaining network uptime and service assurance within set key performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the project-planning meetings that affect IN/Charging and providing guidance and expertise on system options, risk, impact and costs vs. benefits
  • Interfacing with IN vendors and internal cross functional teams to ensure on-time delivery of technical solutions and compliance with prescribed processes.
  • Assess all IN system performances and recommends the best architectures in line with the best standards.
  • Supports new product launches/upgrades/downgrades by implementing work orders or change requests with minimum negative impact on service delivery.
  • Assesses service and network impact and dependencies for ALL change requests
  • Test performance and implement new equipment or service.
  • Participates in PAT’s accepts new equipment from deployment and hands over equipment to Fault Management for monitoring and support
  • Implements and tests new tariffs as per work order
  • Performs maintenance activities for IN and Billing platforms
  • Schedules, performs, monitors system and CDR backup
  • Create and updates knowledgebase of known/recurrent network faults
  • Explores on new technological developments in the telecoms industry and recommends how to improve IN platform


  • Produces outage, incident , root cause and IN `performance reports
  • Carries out software rollout support (upgrade, patches), software, hardware and configuration consistency checks
  • Co-ordinates with internal Revenue Assurance team and ensure that revenue leakages are reduced for Charging

Qualification, Skills and Experience

  • 6 O Levels Including Mathematics, Science and English.
  • 2 A Level passes
  • Degree in Electronic , Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications and Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Post graduate qualification (e.g., MBA /MSC) will be an advantage.
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in telecoms of which 2 years should in GSM/mobile.
