Chief Secretary

Duties And Responsibilities

 Diary management: scheduling meetings, appointments and bookings
 Typing, printing and photocopying of documents
 Attending to visitors; handling enquiries and queries
 Handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls
 Organising meetings, collating papers and preparation of files

 Taking minutes of Departmental meetings
 Maintenance of a systematic filing system
 Mail management
 Undertaking any other related duties as assigned by the Director, Innovation and Industrialisation.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Applicants must have at least a National Diploma in Office Management/Secretarial Studies or equivalent,
  • Typing 50 wpm and shorthand 100 wpm and at least 5 Ordinary level passes including English Language.
  • Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification, preferably in a University environment.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of IT applications such as Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint is a requirement.


Junior Cook

Duties & Responsibilities

 Preparation of breakfast, lunch and dinner for students, staff and guests including special diet meals
 Assist with cleaning of kitchen, equipment and food service areas
 Undertake period stock stake
 Ensure adherence to food hygiene, health and safety guidelines
 Any other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Applicants must have at least 5 Ordinary Level passes including English Language at Grade C or better and at least a Certificate in Professional Cookery or equivalent.
  • Applicants should have at least 3 years’ relevant work experience, be well-groomed and hygiene conscious. Possession of a Diploma in Catering or equivalent is an added advantage.


Innovation Lead

Duties & Responsibilities

 Deliver successful innovation initiatives that provide continual commercial value to the Faculties;
 Develop entirely new concepts or identify potential improvements to existing products or processes;
 Conduct research to identify new technologies or business trends that could impact the University’s operations;
 Develop and manage budgets for new innovation and initiatives;
 Develop prototypes to test new ideas or concepts before they are implemented in the marketplace;
 Help inculcate an innovation culture within Faculties through trainings on Innovation;
 Undertaking any other related duties as assigned by the Innovation Manager and/or Faculty Dean.

Qualifications And Experience

Applicants must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/Crop Science/Animal Science/Food Science or related discipline. Applicants should have at least 3 years’ post qualification experience in developing innovative products.

Director, Agricultural Engineering and Technology

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following post that has arisen in the University:
Director, Agricultural Engineering and Technology

The Director plays a pivotal role in the University’s Senior Management structure, providing strategic leadership, coordinating the governance and overall management of the Centre’s
functions. The successful candidate will be appointed on a four-year contract.


Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Director is responsible for:

 Providing leadership in research, innovation and development in Agricultural Engineering and Technology;
 Developing a strategic plan and implementation plan for the Centre in line with the University Strategic Plan and Education 5.0 policy;
 Coordinating relevant Units of the University on cross-cutting Agricultural Engineering and Technology matters;
 Budgetary planning, control and allocation of income and funding to units of the Centre in line with University Financial Regulations;
 Management of human resources activities, amongst others, recruitment and selection,
staff development and performance management in liaison with the Human Resources Department;
 Mobilising resources for the Centre;
 Management of the Centre’s infrastructure and assets with the support of service Departments;
 Developing collaborations and strategic partnerships with Alumni, Institutions, Corporations and Government Agencies in liaison with University Administration;
 Undertaking any other related duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor.

Qualifications And Experience


 An earned Master’s degree in Soil and Water Management/Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Mechanisation, Food Process Engineering or other relevant discipline. A PhD degree is a distinct advantage.
 Have a proved track record in academic and administrative leadership and the ability to give sound academic direction to the Centre
 Have evidence of sound research and innovation and be published in related academic discipline
 Track record in resource mobilisation for research, innovation and industrialisation


 Proven commitment to academic excellence and collaboration across disciplines
 Leadership and people management skills
 Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
 Decision making and critical thinking skills
 Ability to work in a team
 Good organisational skills.
