Finance Department Graduate Intern

Basic Function 

  • Working under the supervision of the council accountant
  • The graduate intern’s primary role will be to support the Finance department mainly in all aspects of financial reporting

Duties And Responsibilities

  •  Maintaining petty cash records and distributing little cash
  • Maintaining an official filling system of all accounting and financial records
  • Ensure that bank reconciliations are done every month for all council bank accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of the general Ledges reconciliations
  • Ensure the completeness of payment documents.

Qualification And Experience

  • A Degree in accounting or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in an accounting environment
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software (Sage Evolution will be a distinct advantage)
  • A team player
  • Self -Starter with the ability to work under pressure

Procurement Department Graduate Intern

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Preparing and compiling procurement reports
  • Maintaining and filing all Procurement records
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual procurement returns
  • Preparation of tender documents
  • Preparation of Purchase orders
  • Ensuring that Council Complies with established procedures

Qualification And Experience

  • A degree from a recognized University in Purchasing and Supply Management or equivalent
  • 5 ‘O’Level passes, including Mathematics and English
  • Very good communication skills
  • Pay attention to detail

Health & Social Services Department Graduate Intern

Duties And Responsibilities

  • To process Lease forms and offer letters
  • To process health returns
  • Assist in writing departmental reports
  • To manage departmental files
  • To input data into the ERP housing module.
  • To do any other duties as assigned by the departmental officer

Qualification And Experience

  • A relevant Social Science degree from a recognized University
  • 5 ‘0’ Level passes, including English and Mathematics
  • Knowledge of computer packages is a must
  • At least one year of experience in related work
  • Able to identify and align with the council’s core values, transparency, accountability, respect, honesty, integrity, and teamwork

HR And Administration Department Graduate Intern

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing of the payroll
  • Attend to Human Resource-related inquiries and requests
  • Create digital and electronic records
  • Assist with the recruitment process
  • Assist with performance management procedures

  • Schedule meetings, interviews, and HR events and maintain agendas
  • Complete staff termination paperwork
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activities
  • Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Qualification And Experience

  • A degree from a recognized University in Human Resources Management or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in related work
  • 5’0′ Level passes, including Mathematics and English
  • Effective HR administration and people management skills

  • Exposure to Labour law and employment equity regulation

Assistant Executive Officer Finance

Duties And Responsibilities

  • To prepare the council’s annual financial statements and have these ready for audit within the time frame in relevant legislation
  • ➢ To respond to audit reports (internal/external) within a reasonable time from the date of receipt.
  • ➢ To implement audit recommendations about Treasury Department
  • To prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
  • To prepare the departmental budgets
  • To prepare monthly cash flow projections and the actual funds flow statements
  • Maintain loans and investment registers so they are kept up to date monthly

  • To supervise departmental staff deployment, performance, and development
  • To perform any other duties as assigned by Treasurer and management from time to time
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly statutory returns and submit them on time

Qualification And Experience

  • Five (5) ‘0’ Levels, including English and Maths
  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Sage Evolution ERP is a distinct advantage
  • At least three (3) years of experience working in an Accounting Environment
  • Knowledge of Ms. Excel, Ms. Word, and PowerPoint

Executive Officer HR & Administration

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and selection of Council employees
  • Payroll management
  • Planning and implementing training and development programs for employees and Councillors
  • Facilitating the formulation of Council policies and By laws
  • Advising Council on labour matters
  • Development, implementation and review of HR policies
  • Human Resource Planning
  • Maintain order and employee discipline in accordance with the provisions of the Code
  • Managing the preparation and production of Council agendas and minutes
  • Overseeing occupational health and safety issues.
  • Managing the calendar of events for all Council activities

Qualification And Experience

  • A relevant Social Science /Labour relations degree from a recognized University
  • At least 4 years working experience at Senior Management or middle management preferable in a local government environment
  • At least 30 years and above
  • Be conversant with Payroll software packages
  • IPMZ membership – an added advantage
  • Masters in HR an added advantage
  • A citizen of Zimbabwe
  • A strategic thinker, self motivated, innovative and team player
  • Acquainted with labour relations legislation and Rural District Councils Act
  • Able to identify and align with the council’s core values, transparency, accountability, respect, honesty, integrity, and teamwork
