Man City boss Pep Guardiola responds to Neymar transfer

Pep Guardiola has denied that Manchester City turned down the opportunity to sign PSG superstar Neymar.

According to reports in France, City were offered the Brazilian forward but turned down PSG’s offer to bring him to the Premier League. Guardiola, on the other hand, believes he has all bases covered in terms of goal scoring after adding Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez to a squad that won the league with 99 goals last season.

And the City boss said:

I’m sorry but it’s not true. The information is not right. Neymar is an incredible player and the info I have is that he’s an incredibly nice guy. But it’s not right. Every summer Manchester City are going to buy 150 players.

City will kick off their preseason schedule against Mexican side Club America at the magnificent 72,000-capacity NRG Stadium.

And Guardiola is furious that Phil Foden, John Stones, and Ilkay Gundogan ruined his plans to ensure the champions hit the ground running when the new season begins after being denied entry to the United States due to a lack of a covid passport.

Guardiola had hoped for a full-strength squad, but the trio has been forced to train with the club’s youth team in Croatia due to insufficient immunization.
