Pastor Steals Church Laptops

Afolf Lwazi Moyo (31),a pastor of the Apostles of Christ church, appeared before Harare magistrate Noticia Shenje on Wednesday, charged with two counts of theft of church property valued at US$13 000.

Moyo pleaded guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody until his sentencing on Friday.

According to the prosecutor, Charlotte Chikore, on 11 July 2022, a member of the Apostles of Christ church in Harare’s Gallop Blank building, only identified as Hlongwane, locked the church doors and went on an online Zoom meeting.

Moyo then unlocked the church doors and stole electronic devices such as a television set and laptop computers. While committing the crime, he was caught on CCTV.

Hlongwane then noticed that 18 laptop computers had gone missing from the church on July 16, 2022.

Moyo allegedly stole another television set from a nearby local business.

On July 19, the clergyman was apprehended, and he voluntarily assisted police in recovering some of the stolen items.
