“We are not seeking endorsement for dialogue after the by-election” Mwonzora

MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora has urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to announce when the dialogue process will commence.

The request came after Mwonzora’s party suggested swiftness for the dialogue after its National Executive gathering met on Friday where the party made plans to remove its Vice President Dr Thokozani Khupe. Mwonzora said :

We are not seeking endorsement for dialogue after the by-election, we are seeking for commencement of the dialogue.

The actual talking. As you know a lot of time has been spent in preparations for dialogue. Now we have finished the preparations and we now want to do the actual dialogue.

It must begin immediately after the by-elections. We also have said these discussions must be time-bound and we are confident of a deal that will be in the interests of Zimbabweans.

The Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) was set up by President Munangagwa in 2019 after the 2018 elections.

Polad is a platform that is used by President Munangagwa to engage political parties that participated in the 2018 harmonized elections.

However the main opposition party formerly MDC-alliance did not join the platform citing that ZANU-PF did not win the 2018 elections.

The Citizens coalition for change recently branded from MDC-Alliance to Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and the new party is using yellow as the colour for its brand.
